Patras Lighthouse – Faros
The maritime symbol of the city
Patras Lighthouse (called “Faros” in Greek) is the symbol of the city of Patras. The Patras Lighthouse was initially built in Saint Nickolas Pier and remained there until 1972, when was demolished. In 1999 the manager of the coastal zone Yiannis Dimaras, decided to rebuilt the lighthouse in a Southern location near Saint Andrew’s church. Today the Lighthouse isn’t of any maritime use, but is a very beautiful sight & landmark of Patras.
Today, in the entrance level of the Lighthouse there is a cafe – bar – restaurant and free parking available for visitors to the area.
