Athens Central Bus Station – Kifisos
Each of the 52 Greek departments has it’s own Suburban bus company under the initials K.T.E.L. For example Attica region owns “KTEL Attikis” and the city of Patras owns “KTEL Achaias” (as it belongs to Achaia region).
All KTEL companies share the same bus station in Athens which is called Athens Central Bus Station – Kifisos. It is called Kifisos while it is situated near the Athenian river Kifisos. This is situated in the west part of Athens near Peristeri and Egaleo areas.
The Athens Central Bus Station in Kifisos is an old crowded building and we do not recommend you to use it for long waiting.
Transportation – How to get to Athens Central Bus Station “Kifisos”
By bus
From Athens International Airport you can get the direct bus number X93 in order to reach the station. The bus operates 24 hours / 7 days per week and the service runs about every 30 minutes. The route lasts about one hour. The ticket cost is 5 € for single ticket.
From Athens city centre – Omonia Square you can get the OASA bus Nr.051. This bus departs from Menandrou str. In order to reach the bus stop from Omonia square you have to walk Agiou Konstantinou str. for about 5-10 minutes. The third road you meet is Menandrou str. The buses frequency is every 7 – 20 minutes (depending on the day and time).
From Piraeus port you can get the metro train (line 1 – green line) from Piraeus station tp Omonia square. From Omonia square you follow the above information regarding bus 051 to the Central Station.
By tube – (underground) – Attiko METRO
Despite Athens has got a modern and covenient Metro system there is not any station in the Athens Central Bus Station. The nearest station is “ELEONAS” line 3 (blue line). From there you can walk for about 15-20 minutes or get a taxi with approximate time 10 minutes (cost about 7 euros).
Ticket Kiosks
Each bus company has a ticket kiosk in the station. In the kiosks you can buy tickets for the destination you prefer. We suggest you to carry cash with you while some of the kiosks do not accept cards.
